INFANT BAPTISM
One of the greatest joys of being a Catholic parent is having your children, AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, receive the Sacrament of Baptism.
Why does the Church baptize infants and young children? “The Church baptizes infants because they are born with original sin. They need to be freed from the power of the Evil One and brought into that realm of freedom which belongs to the Children of God." Once baptized, that “person belongs forever to Christ. He is marked with the indelible seal of Christ” (Compendium of the Catechism 258, 263).
Therefore, it is critical to plan and prepare for this important event, even before your baby is born.
In order to prepare…
BAPTISMAL NAMES:
Code of Canon Law 855: “Parents, sponsors [Godparents] and parish priests are to take care that a name is not given which is foreign to Christian sentiment.” In other words, parents are encouraged to choose for their child a biblical name or a saint canonized in the Catholic Church.
